Family Counseling Services
No family functions perfectly. Sometimes we do what we think ought to work or what has worked in the past, but feel “stuck”. Family counseling is a great forum to help your family become “unstuck”. Together we’ll become a team, coming up with creative new solutions for your family in a safe environment. Every individual is important in helping your family move out of the “stuckness” to where you’d like to be. We can discuss challenges, overcome obstacles and set attainable goals together to help you feel the success that can come from being part of a strong team. Let me help your family in your journey to find greater connection and happiness.
Some common concerns that affect the whole family are:
- Behavioral concerns of a family member
- Trauma
- Tragedy impacting the family
- Loss
- Addiction in the family
- Illness
- Parenting concerns
- Conflict
- Safeguarding your family
- Major life transitions
- Birth of a child
- Adoption
- Job loss
- Death of a loved one
In family counseling, all household family members, regardless of age, are invited to attend sessions. Very young children are encouraged to attend the first session, but are not required to follow subsequent sessions unless they are a key part of the problem. Family counseling may be brief or extended, depending on the nature and complexities of the problem, and your family’s goals.
In a family session, we will all work together to define challenges, address concerns and set both immediate and long term goals. Each family member is such an important part of the team and can help identify and change problematic relationship patterns. We can help each family member to identify individual goals and set realistic personal expectations to help strengthen the family as a whole. Strong individuals make a strong family!
Because of all the outside influences that can impact your relationship, I invite you to read my handout on growing and strengthening your personal relationships. For more information, please CONTACT ME!
I look forward to meeting you and working with you. Let me help you strengthen your family relationships. Let’s talk!
